John and Marcia Price Building, Utah Museum of Fine Arts University of Utah
The 74,000 square-foot museum is organized to support both public engagement and operational functions. The ground level features the grand gallery, temporary exhibition spaces, an art education center, bookstore, cafe and auditorium. The second level houses galleries for the permanent collection alongside administrative offices.
At the heart of the museum is a 55-foot-tall central gallery, crowned by a semi-translucent clerestory that fills the space with diffused natural light, creating a contemplative environment that invites reflection and pause.
The direction, management, and curation of the museum’s 20,000-piece collection, as well as traveling exhibitions, are led by the Executive Director and her staff. Administrative spaces include four private offices, open work areas for assistants and interns, a private administrative assistant's office, a lobby waiting area, green room, library, and a 25-seat boardroom.
Additional management and operational functions are located on a secured lower level, which includes a private office for the curator, as well as spaces dedicated to art delivery, intake and secured storage.
