Prescott Muir collaborated closely to support and implement the design of fellow professor and architect, Alfred Jacoby. Professor Jacoby, the Director of the Neue Dessau Bauhaus, had been selected by the German government to rebuild and restore synagogues throughout Germany. Bringing this wealth of experience and perspective he was hired to design the Temple Har Shalom in a bucolic setting along Macleod Creek in Park City, Utah. Muir Architects oversaw the site planning, community approval, construction detailing and administration of the project.

The building was designed to meet progressive environmental goals of the time while providing an enduring presence in the community. There was a conscious decision to veer from the typical mountain resort vocabulary by using the implied permanence of brick with wood accents. The Temple houses community space, a library, study and contemplative areas. The sanctuary required the flexibility to accommodate attendance for normal Sabbath worship while anticipating that of high holidays and bar and bat mitzvahs.
