Weber County Library Pleasant Valley Branch
Located in close proximity to Hill Air Force Base, the Weber County Library Pleasant Valley Branch was designed by Muir Architects with a strong commitment to sustainability. Integrated green building strategies have reduced annual operating costs by up to 25 percent. During construction, 85 percent of waste was diverted from landfills through a comprehensive recycling effort, including a work-release program in which participants assisted in sorting materials.
The library is enriched with a wide range of community-focused amenities, including electric vehicle charging stations, a café, a 275-seat auditorium, an art gallery, and a teaching kitchen for healthy cooking classes. The design also incorporates controllable outdoor cameras to monitor local wildlife, reinforcing a connection to the surrounding environment. Interior spaces are thoughtfully tailored to serve users of all ages, from dedicated areas for children and toddlers—featuring interactive, cushioned flooring— to more traditional reading and gathering spaces.
The result is a dynamic, inclusive environment that supports learning, engagement, and community life. Notably, the project was delivered under budget, demonstrating both design excellence and fiscal responsibility.
