The architectural design of these spaces is defined by a restrained and refined approach, allowing the unique character and rich history of the building to take precedence. Current, a sophisticated seafood restaurant, occupies the primary volume, while Under Current, a more casual yet upscale bar, activates the adjacent space—together creating a layered and complementary dining experience.
Adaptive reuse begins with recognizing potential. In reimagining the shell of this building for a restaurant, Muir Architects carefully reshaped its edges to invite light, movement, and connection. The renovation transforms the building envelope into a welcoming threshold, setting the stage for the energy and rhythm of shared meals and conversation.
